Ongalo's Substack is leaving the internet and touching grass, literally, at the Nairobi Arboretum, and you are cordially, urgently, spiritually invited.

From 12pm to 5pm, we will be spread out on our shukas like the unbothered Kenyans we are, playing board games, arguing about words, writing things, and eating snacks that nobody brought enough of. It is a picnic. It is a sidequest. It is what happens when readers decide that the comment section is not enough.

What to carry:
Your snacks, your board games, your card games, a shuka, and a reusable water bottle, because we are not that kind of people. You know the kind. The ones with the plastic bottles. Do not be those people. Not here. Not in front of the trees.

What NOT to carry:
Single use plastics. Leave them. Leave them at home. Leave them in 2019 where they belong.

The damages:
200 bob per person. Yes, that is less than your last Uber. The park entrance fee is an extra 242 bob, paid separately, directly to the arboretum, not to us, we are not the government.
